Funeral Service: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 12 noon at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church


Shirley McMahan, Age 78, of Hamilton died Wednesday, February 13, 2013 in Fort Hamilton Hospital. She was born January 24, 1935 in Hamilton, the daughter of Francis Byron and Julia Francis (Lyons) Painter. She attended Ohio State University with the intention of becoming a stewardess for Pan American Airlines. She married Gerald McMahan on June 14, 1958 in Oxford. She was retired from the Hamilton City Schools where she had been employed in school administration. She was a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Gerald; a daughter, Cindy (John) Hamann and three grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda and Joseph (Jessica). Shirley dearly loved and cherished her grandchildren. She was an avid bridge player and will be greatly missed by her friends especially her childhood friend, Joyce. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dale Painter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 12 noon at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, Ridgelawn and Liberty Avenues with Father Ronald Haft celebrant. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
