Hope Mae Slade age 88, of Hamilton died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Golden Years Nursing Home. She was born September 9, 1921 in Hamilton the daughter of Jesse and Nettie (Allen) Carter. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School. She married James A. Slade on July 5, 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana and he preceded her in death in 1987. She was employed by the Hamilton City Schools as a cafeteria worker for 20 years retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Westwood Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Slade spent many years volunteering at Fort Hamilton Hospital and with Meals on Wheels, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She is survived by her son, Timothy A. Slade of Tennessee; a daughter, Sally A. Slade-Burns and her husband Craig of Alaska; three grandchildren, Joshua Burns, Bryce Burns and Lydia Jayne Slade. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James; three sisters, Ethel McGuire, Iona Kolibob and Jessie Schulteiss. She also leaves many dear friends. The family wishes to thank the friends at Golden Years Nursing Center for their loving care. Funeral service will be Monday, March 15, 2010 at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 NW Washington Blvd., Hamilton with the Rev. Joshua Long officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, March 15, 2010 from 9 a.m. until time of service.
