Joe Edward Durbin

Joe Edward Durbin Age 77, Seven Mile, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at his residence. He was born December 19, 1938 in Hamilton the son of William P. and Nellie Irene (Cecil) Durbin. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Joe married Mary Rose Kidd on October 12, 1961 in New Miami and they were married for 55 years (a long six months). He had been employed as General Superintendent for the Ohio Department of Transportation. He was a member of Washington Lodge # 17, F&AM, an avid car enthusiast and a UK fan. Joe spent his life surrounded by women but felt the odds were evening up with the birth of a grandson and a four month old great grandson. He was loved by all. He had a huge extended lake family (Lake Cumberland). He did it all; he never let anything prevent him from accomplishing his goals. When he left this world he was surrounded by women – STILL. He is survived by his wife, Mary Rose Durbin, in her words - I lost my best friend, the love of my life, my soul mate, best Dad, Papaw, and great Papaw in the world. He took God’s hand and slipped from this world into a place where he’s totally restored. My heart already misses my “Only You”. He also leaves two daughters, Danette (Scott) Shuler, Hamilton and Denita (Jerry) Helsinger, Eaton; a sister, Juanita (Ron) Davish, Hamilton; five grandchildren, Chantelle (Matt) Jennings, Larissa (Troy) Blevins, Katie (Jamie Taylor) Colwell, Stephanie Shuler, Clifford (Jamie) Shuler; four great grandchildren, Alivia, Hailey, Maddie and C.J; brothers-in-law John (Ruth) Kidd, Paul R. (Tracy) Kidd; sisters-in-law, Jannas (Jim) Nugent, Tammy (Mat) Hubbard and nieces and nephews who adored him. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd. with Dr. Lee Ault officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 30 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
