Nancy Burgess Blakley

NANCY B BLAKLEY, age 87 of Sidney, OH went home to be with the Lord at 1:12 PM on Monday December 19, 2022 at The Landings in Sidney, OH. She was born on August 11, 1935 in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Edward M. and Eleanor J. (Cunningham) Burgess. She married the love of her life, Paul Thomas Blakley, Sr., on January 8, 1955 in Frederick, Maryland and he survives and cherishes their 67 years of marriage. Nancy is also survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Paul T. (Peggy) Blakley, Jr; one daughter and son-in-law: Melissa “Missy” (Don) Trumbull, Covington, OH; two sisters and brother-in-law: Beth (Ron) Newcome, Morgantown, West Virginia, and Vickie Atkins, Conway, South Carolina; four grandchildren: Traci Canter, Michael (Vicki) Blakley, Sara Naff (Justin Sowers), and Courtney (Eric) Pheneger, seven great-grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by one brother; Glenn Lucas and a brother-in-law; Ed Atkins. Nancy graduated from Morgantown, West Virginia High School in 1953 and then attended business college in Morgantown West Virginia. Her administrative career included working in real estate, working at the Butler County Ohio Recorder’s Office, and proudly served as an executive secretary at the Pentagon. However, it was caring for and loving her family that gave her the most joy in life. Nancy also enjoyed traveling with her husband Tom, documenting their travels and retaining those memories forever. She loved reading, playing cards, and of course, Scrabble. She was the sweetest of ladies and will be sorely missed by all that knew her. Arrangements have been entrusted to Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua, OH. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 NW Washington Blvd., Hamilton, OH with Pastor Don Trumbull officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
