Ruth C. Schneider

Ruth C. SCHNEIDER, Age 82, of Hamilton, died Friday, May 18, 2007 at Vitas Hospice at Ft. Hamilton Hospital. She was born November 12, 1924 in Cedar Grove, Indiana and raised as a country girl the third youngest of George and Nora (Beyersdorfer) Reuss. She was joined in marriage to Elmer Schneider on September 30, 1943 in Cedar Grove. Together they shared 60 years and 9 months and the blessing of 5 children. She was a farmers wife for ten years. Upon moving to Hamilton she became involved in her church St. Peter in Chains, and for about 45 years she took pride in her job as a house keeper to many. She gave sound advice on making a "house a home". Ruth had a passion for nature. She loved working in her flower beds which was the envy of all the neighbors. She could be seen sitting on her porch with a cup of coffee listening to the birds and watching the squirrels. Upon loosing two sons, she became a "gold star mother" and faithfully flagged the graves of many local veterans for Memorial Day. She is survived by her children: Jim Schneider and wife Kathy of Byrdstown, Tenn., Doug Schneider and wife Sue of Hamilton, Peggy Williams and husband Larry of Hamilton, a daughter-in-law, Paula Weber and husband (Bill) of Hamilton; eight grandchildren, Karen Polisini and husband Tim, Kaori Hammonds and husband Keith, Julie Newman and husband Mark, Janie Smith, Scott Williams and wife Mimi, Shelly Williams, Benjamin and Colin Schneider and also Pete, Patty and Paul Weber. Thirteen great grandchildren and one on the way. Many nieces and nephews and her little dog Taffy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Mike and Dave who both served in Viet Nam and twelve siblings: Fred, Ed, Charley and Henry Reuss, Emma Rosenberger, Margaret Hogins, Berthy Rosenberger, Annie Pence, Minnie Steiner, Mary Blades, Rita Ruf and Betty Schneider. The family wishes to thank her many visitors, the Schroder Manor Family and residents, and also, the wonderful staff at Vitas Hospice Care of Fort Hamilton. Visitation will be Sunday, May 20, 2007 from 4-8 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 NW Washington Blvd., Hamilton. Mass of Christian will be on Monday, May 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Schroder Manor Chapel with Father Duffy officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery in Brookville, Indiana. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be sent to Vitas Health Care, 11500 North Lake Dr. Suite 400, Cincinnati, OH 45249 or Mercy Franciscan at Schroder, 1302 Millville Ave., Hamilton, OH 45013 or St. Peter in Chains Church, 382 Liberty Ave., Hamilton, Oh 45013. Ruth will be well remembered as such a giving, caring and beautiful person and also for her green thumb and love for flowers.
