Donald "Don" C. Molter

Donald "Don" C. Molter 78 years of age, passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Berkeley Square. On March 20, 1936 Don was born to Harold R. and Esther (Wooley) Molter in Hamilton, Ohio. At the age of eleven years Don experienced the death of his beloved sister, Carol Ann of complications from a hole in her heart. This was a couple years prior to the availability of life saving surgery. This loss had a great impact on his life. Don graduated from Hamilton High School in 1954. He received a degree in architecture in 1959 from Miami University. At Miami University Don was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. After graduation from Miami, Don designed residential homes and commercial buildings for Harold R. Molter and Son Builders. Later Don was employed for 34 years in the corporate office of the Kroger Company in the engineering and store planning department. On July 20, 1963 Don married the love of his life, Marilyn Ann Limerick, at The Presbyterian Church in Hamilton, Ohio. Don’s hobby was traveling and photographing lighthouses. He photographed over a 150 lighthouses. Don was a member of The Presbyterian Church, a fifty year member of the Hugh Bates Lodge #686, F&AM, The Scottish Rite AASR, and The Syrian Shrine AAONMS. Don is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn Ann Molter; his son, Douglas Jay Molter and wife, Nancy; his daughter, Deborah Lynn Brosius and husband, Matthew. Don’s pride and joy were his five grandchildren. He doted upon the twins, Alice and Lucy, their brother, Andy Molter, and his buddies Tommy and Nick Brosius. Don’s sister-in-law and husband, Dorothy and Allan Bailey were special friends in addition to family. Also, his nieces, Ruth E. and Victoria A. Bailey, shared the important events in Don’s life. Don leaves his close first cousin, Joan Tyson and her children and spouses. His second cousin Ellen Campbell was a steadfast, loyal friend during his illness. Also, he leaves behind his adored Schnauzer dogs. Don maintained many lifelong supportive friendships with childhood colleagues, fraternity brothers and co-workers. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and his grandson, Stephen Douglas Molter, and his nephew, John Mark Bailey. The family is grateful to the staff at Berkeley Square for the care and compassion shown to Don during his illness. The funeral service will be held at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd, Hamilton, Ohio on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 11 a. m. The visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m.to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by Dr. John H. H. Lewis. Hugh Bates Lodge #686 will conduct services at 10:45 a.m. followed by Scottish Rite Ring Service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
