Dorothy L. Jones

Dorothy L. Jones departed her earthly home and went to her heavenly home on June 27, 2013. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on September 28, 1923, the daughter of the late George J. and Mary Louise (Schuster) Fried. She was a “1941” graduate of Hamilton High School. She attended Miami University and taught elementary education on the accelerated program during World War II, teaching in Middletown, Hamilton and Fairfield. Dorothy loved to ballroom dance to the Big Band music and met her future husband, Pat Jones, at the “Y” dances in Hamilton. They were married September 22, 1945 in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hamilton, Ohio by the late Reverend Karl A. Mueller. They were blessed with 67 years of marriage. Dorothy was a devoted Christian and was a very active and faithful member in the church serving as one of the first lady Deacons on church council, teaching Sunday School, Superintendent of Sunday School, Alter Guild and Bible Study. Dorothy loved people and never knew a stranger. She enjoyed her role as Homemaker, loving to bake pies and gave many away. She and Pat enjoyed their traveling days especially to Alaska. Dorothy and Pat were blessed with four sons. Survivors include: Paul R. Jones (Diane) of Bath, IN, Thomas K. Jones of Camden, OH, Todd F. Jones (Beverly) of Vevay, IN, Timothy S. Jones of Vienna, OH. Surviving grandchildren: Kimberly D. Cooper (Scott), Christina R. Clark (Jason), Lisa M. Jackson (Jeremy), Julie L. Eori (Sean), Timothy S. Jones, Jr. and Erica N. Jones. Step grandchildren: Joe Kaylor (Rachel) and Belinda Contreras (Wally). Great grandchildren: Olivia Cooper, Aaron Jackson, Ryan Jackson, Liberty Jackson, Tyler Clark and Lucas Clark. Step great grandchildren: Emily, Hannah, Ashley, Allison, Ilisha, Christian, and Brennan. One sister survives: Georgette “Jeanne” Newman of Sun Lakes, AZ. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Ralph O. Jones (Pat), George J. and Mary Louise Fried, sisters Marjorie Ellen Fried, Mary Kathryn Fried, Frances L. Johns and a beloved daughter-in-law Linda S. Jones. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013 at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd. The service will be officiated by Pastor David Miller. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church "Radio Ministry", 212 S. Front Street, Hamilton, OH 45011.
