Floyd Baker

Floyd Baker, age 98, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away on January 12, 2023. Floyd was born on January 3 1925, in Busy Kentucky, to John E. Baker and Nannie (Morgan) Baker. In Hamilton, he married Lois Baker, the love of his life, on June 16, 1948. Floyd was blessed to have lived 98 active and wonderful years. He was a dedicated and faithful servant to his church. He honorably served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After his military service he was a well-respected General Contractor, building many homes in Hamilton and surrounding areas. Floyd enjoyed playing softball and golf, and was an avid bowler well into his 90s. There has never been a man who lived out his retirement as Floyd did. He began each day at McDonald’s with the self-proclaimed McDonald’s Adult Daycare friend group. He was always there for his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and all of their friends and teammates. From cold fall soccer games, to theater and dance performances, to smoldering hot summer baseball games, he was there to cheer on all of the kids. Related or not, Floyd was “Grandpa” to all. The biggest accomplishment of his life was his family. Floyd is survived by his wife of 74 years, Lois Baker; his sister, Georgie Jean Manning (James); his 3 children, David (Nancy) Baker, Tamea (George) Marsh, and Mindy (Phil) Chenoweth; his grandchildren, Deanna Fritz (Todd), Ali (Jon) Roy, Erin (Sam) Hancock, Sarah (Gilberto) Silva, and Chad (Kelli) Chenoweth; great grandchildren, Jake, Hayley, Bella, Cooper, Reese, Mia, Jack, Lilly, Brody, Lizette, Lyla, Ryder, Julianna, Asher, Gage, Finn, Poppy, and Cruz; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mildred, Henry, Janie, Janice, and Larry. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 16, 2023 at 12 noon at Grace United Methodist Church, 1200 Main Street, Hamilton, Ohio 45013 with Pastor Randy Stearns officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be take place privately at Millville Cemetery. The family expresses great appreciation for the staff at Kettering of Hamilton.
