Herbert Bennett

Herbert ''Herb'' BENNETT, Age 73, of Hamilton, died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 11:35 p.m. in the Vitas Hospice Unit at Fort Hamilton Hospital. He was born October 23, 1934 in Gatliff, Kentucky, the son of James Everett, Sr. and Sally (Childers) Bennett. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force from September 17, 1952 to July 10, 1956 and served in Alaska. He married Grethel Maupin on December 27, 1966 in Hamilton and she preceded him in death on March 11, 2001. He then married Jo Ann (Theiss) Hacker on November 23, 2002 in Hamilton. He retired as a foreman for the Schriber Printing Press Company in Dayton after 27 years of service, and later employed at the Hamilton Senior Citizens Center for seven years, retiring in 2006. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; six daughters, Connie Abner, Linda Steele, Shawnee (Christian Burress) Handley, Doronna (Tim) Ryan, Melissa (Joe) Lairson and Deborah (Doug) Hartman, all of Hamilton; a brother, John F., Sr. (Betty) Bennett of Baltimore, Maryland; three sisters, Madeline Kohler, Yula Kohler, and Jewell Jones, all of Cincinnati; thirteen grandchildren, Brigitte (Randy) McGaha, Natasha (Andy) Anderson, James Abner, Jr., Twila (Sam) Hopkins, Starlyn Sharon, Sharanda Sharon, Dustin (Catalina BeDoya) Handley, Katie Ryan, Eric Ryan, Dalton Roberts, Jaclyn Lairson, Patrick Lairson and Heather Hartman; twelve great grandchildren; his father in law, Thomas E. Theiss, a devoted brother-in-law, Tom (Jan) Theiss and a sister-in-law, Gartha Webb. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Grethel, his mother-in-law, Maggie Theiss, a great great grandson, Ricky Lee Allen, II and five brothers, James, Harold, Bob, Jack and Lynn Bennett. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 3, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Full Gospel Church, 2117 Eaton Road, Hamilton with Rev. Ernest Benge, Rev. Tom Nunley and Rev. Sam Wyatt officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 2, 2007 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the church and also on Monday, December 3, from 1 p.m. until time of the service at the church.
