Lois Baker

Lois Baker, age 98, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on July 13, 1927, Lois was the beloved daughter of Roy and Patience (Knighton) Baker. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Eileen Winkler and her husband, Don; her brother, Daniel Baker and his wife, Ruth; and her devoted husband, Floyd Baker, whom she loved and shared 75 wonderful years with. Lois was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by her three children, David (Nancy) Baker, Tamea (George) Marsh, and Mindy (Phil) Chenoweth; five grandchildren, Deanna (Todd) Fritz, Allison (Jon) Roy, Erin (Sam) Hancock, Sarah (Gilberto) Silva, and Chad (Kelli) Chenoweth; 18 great-grandchildren, Jake, Hayley, Bella (Carson), Cooper, Reese, Mia, Jack, Lilly, Brody, Lizette, Lyla, Ryder, Julianna, Asher, Gage, Finn, Poppy, and Cruz; one great-great-granddaughter, Aurelia; and many special nieces and nephews. Lois answered the call to serve as a Nurse Cadet during World War II, beginning a lifelong commitment to caring for others. She went on to enjoy a long nursing career in Hamilton, where she compassionately cared for countless patients until her retirement. Her faith in God was the foundation of her life. Lois was an active and devoted member of her church, where she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher, participated in Bible studies, and volunteered on the missions and hospitality committees. She lived her faith through her actions, seeking every opportunity to encourage others and share God’s love. More than anything, she hoped to instill her deep and abiding faith in her children and grandchildren. Her kindness, acceptance, and unwavering belief in others were gifts that those who loved her will carry with them always. The world is better because of the way she lived. Lois was strong and steady, leading with kindness instead of judgment and choosing love over criticism. She had a remarkable gift for leaving everyone she met feeling a little better than before. Her example will continue to guide those who knew and loved her, and her family hopes to honor her memory by carrying forward the compassion, grace, and love that defined her life. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 1200 Main St., Hamilton, Ohio 45013 with Pastor Randy Stearns officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will take place at Millville Cemetery. The family expresses great appreciation for the staff and residents at Woodlands of Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Grace United Methodist Church’s Children and Youth Ministries in honor of Lois’s memory.
