Patricia Ann Love

Patricia Ann Love from Hamilton, Ohio passed away May 20, 2026 at the age of 85, in her home, surrounded by loved ones. Patricia was born March 7, 1941, daughter of Allapearl Howard and Harold Knittel of Portsmouth, Ohio. Known affectionately as Patty or Pat to friends and family, she was a loving wife to Robert Alexander Love III, sister to Sharon Howard, Michael and Jainain Howard and Donna Keller, mother to Tracy (Love) and Scott Huentelman, Kelley (Love) and Matt Chretien and Robert Alexander Love IV; Grandmother to Samantha (Huentelman) and Joe Schum, Jessica (Huentelman) and Colton Payne, Phoebe, Maxine and Alexander Chretien; and Great-Grandmother to Oliver Schum and Chandler Payne. Pat grew up in Portsmouth Ohio, graduated from West Portsmouth High School and went on to graduate from Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. After graduation she spent several years teaching first and second grade. She had a special way of connecting with her students and they loved her! She was more than an instructor—she was a champion for all her students. Her lessons extended far beyond the classroom; she taught with kindness, compassion, and encouraged her students to dream big. Patricia’s life was defined by her kindness, generosity, and service. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her friends, family, neighbors or even strangers! Pat believed in the importance of community and was a leader in the many organizations she participated in, including the school and City PTA, Junior Women’s League, Medical Auxiliary, PEO Chapter CY, and many others where she frequently served as President. She volunteered countless hours in the community where she made a profound difference. Patricia’s greatest joy was caring for her family. She and her husband Robert grew up in the same hometown and began dating after college. Together they built a home filled with laughter and warmth for nearly 64 years. Pat touched the lives of everyone she met with her loving and kind spirit, welcoming everyone into her home for holidays, gatherings and joyous occasions. She attended Grace United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling around the country with her friends and family. Patty treated everyone like family and was a friend to all she met. Though she leaves this world, her love, laughter, and lessons will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. In lieu of a funeral service, a celebration of life will be held later this summer in Hamilton, Ohio.
