Richard Joseph Tegge

Richard Joseph Tegge age 64, of Hamilton, passed away on March 24, 2008 at home. He was born in Hamilton on March 11, 1944, the son of Neil Joseph and Bernadine (Zettler) Tegge. He attended Hamilton Catholic High School. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the years 1961 through 1965, when he was stationed on board the aircraft carrier USS Independence. On October 15, 1966, he married Trudy Anne Engle in St. Ann's Church. She preceded him in death after nearly 40 years of marriage. Dick was employed by Armco, later AK Steel, for 37 years. A talented carpenter, he also worked with the late Sherry Corbett to restore homes in the Dayton Lane Historic District. He was a member of the American Legion Post 138, and coached for the West Side Little League for 10 years. He is survived by his mother Bernadine Tegge, his wife Denise Tegge, his children Lori Anne Daniels and husband John, Lisa Anne Reid and husband Danny, and Robert Neil Tegge and wife Kara; grandchildren Trace Fowler, Kaleb and Kurtis Reid, Haleigh and Kenton Daniels and Jessica, Julia, Jenna and Jada Tegge, all of Hamilton; sisters Mary King and husband Dick of Hamilton, Dee Bruewer and husband Bill of Fairfield, Phyllis Cox of Hamilton, Jane Miskell of Hermosa Beach, California, and brother-in-law Bill Miskell of Hamilton. He is also survived by his step-daughters Jamie Petti and husband Dave of Painesville, OH, and Elizabeth Selan of Willoughby, OH, and step-grandchildren Caleb and Caitlyn Petti, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Trudy, his father, Neil Tegge, step-father John Tegge, father and mother-in-law Robert and Colleen (McMechan) Engle, a sister-in-law Marcia McKillican, a brother-in-law Ron Cox, stillborn grandsons Joseph and Justin Tegge, and a nephew Marc Miskell. Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, March 28 at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 NW Washington Blvd., with Pastor Mark Larimer of Crossway Community Church officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 27 from 5-8pm at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Crossway Community Church Building Fund, P.O.
