William "Bill" Minnelli

William John Minnelli passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the age of 95. Mr. Minnelli was born on January 26, 1921, in Hamilton, Ohio. He was the son of Nicholas Minnelli and Lucy Dellagatto Minnelli. He grew up on Ludlow Street in Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton Catholic High School in 1939. Mr. Minnelli was joined in Holy Matrimony to Muriel Catherine Burckey at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on September 10, 1955. They were blessed with four children and nine grandchildren, to whom he was deeply devoted. He faithfully visited his wife daily at Golden Years Nursing Center, where she now resides. Mr. Minnelli proudly served his country in the United States Army from September 2, 1942, to Nov. 26, 1945. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Victory Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged for his honest and faithful service after being stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He served as a firefighter with the City of Hamilton Fire Department from 1948 to 1986. He was a faithful member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church and a lifelong member of the Italian-American Society. Mr. Minnelli was an avid flower and vegetable gardener (especially tomatoes). He loved to walk, work out at the West Hamilton YMCA, cook hearty meals, reminisce about the old days, watch the Cincinnati Reds, and spend time with his family. Mr. Minnelli is survived by his loving wife, Muriel; children, Thomas (Karen) Minnelli, Killen, Alabama, Rosemary (Jeffrey) Borman, Charleston, West Virginia and Karen (John) Holcomb, Hamilton, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Timothy Minnelli, with whom he resided, Sarah (Nick) Lough, Athens, Georgia, Amy (Tyler) Martin, Florence, Alabama, Jennifer, Brian, Ben and Eric Borman, Charleston, West Virginia and Julie and John (Jack) Holcomb, Hamilton; a sister in-law, Charlotte Minnelli, Dayton, Ohio and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Minnelli, parents Nicholas and Lucy Minnelli, five brothers, Samuel, Joseph, Leonard, Anthony, and Marion “Buddy” Minnelli. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, Ridgelawn Ave. with Father Rob Mulenkamp officiating. Entombment will be in St. Stephen Mausoleum. Visitation will be Friday evening, July 15, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd.
