William A. Moore

William A. MOORE, Age 84, of Hamilton, died Sunday, January 2, 2005, at 11:05 p.m. in Fort Hamilton Hospital. He was born in Middletown, Ohio on May 22, 1920, the son of Arthur W. and Thelma (Robison) Moore. He was a graduate of Middletown High School, he attended Miami University and received his B. S. and M. A. degrees from the University of Cincinnati. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving from 1942 to 1944 receiving the rank of Captain. He also served eight years in the National Guard from 1975 to 1983. He married Herta Liebschwager on April 8, 1944 in St. Paul's Evangelical Church. He was employed as a chemist for Armco Steel for 51 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ, Sons of American Revolution, Sons of Union Veterans, American Legion Post #138, Lincoln Lodge F & AM, Middletown, Scottish Rite, Valley of Cincinnati, Liberty Home Association and the Hamilton Civil War Round Table. Because of his great love of the United States, Hamilton and Butler County, Bill participated enthusiastically in the Fourth of July parade where he portrayed many of the great men of American history. With these authentic uniforms, he would also give talks about the characters that he portrayed to schools in the surrounding areas. His love of history showed in his great interest in the Hamilton Civil War Round Table of which he was a charter member. With members of this group he often enjoyed taking part in battle re-enactments. Bill loved to travel and made many trips with his family in this country and Europe. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife Herta; three daughters, Karla Addess and husband, Stan of Springfield, Virginia, Ingrid Moore of Milford, Ohio and Lisa Jackson and husband, Michael of Atlanta, Georgia, four grandchildren, Jason McKitrick, Peter Addess, Emily Jackson and Kimberly Jackson and one great granddaughter, Estella. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Thomas and Mark Moore. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 6, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd. with Dr. Alan Minor officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 5, 2005 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Lincoln Lodge will hold Masonic Services at 5 p.m. followed by the Scottish Rite Ring Service.
