Harvey "Gene" Barrett

Harvey E. "Gene" Barrett Age 76, Hamilton, died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Hospice of Hamilton. He was born in Greenfield, Ohio on March 21, 1941, the son of David E. and Sarah (Harvey) Barrett. He was a 1959 graduate of Fairfield High School and married Phyllis A. Gurr on August 10, 1963. Gene had been employed by West Side Federal and Butler County CSEA. He was a member of The Presbyterian Church and enjoyed woodworking, camping, photography and bike riding. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his children, Suzanne (David) Harlow, Fairfield Twp., Brian (Debra) Barrett, Centerville, Ohio and Kristy (Randall) McWhorter, Fairfield Twp; a brother, John (Mary) Barrett, Hamilton; grandchildren, Christopher (Samantha) Proctor, Kaitlyn Harlow, Anna and Rebecca Barrett and Kyla McWhorter; a great grandson, Cooper Proctor and his sister-in-law, Judith Barrett. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas Barrett. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd. with Dr. John H. H. Lewis and Scott Swelbar, Minister officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel, Indiana Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
