Ann R. Mowatt

Ann Regina (Giorno) Mowatt, 86, of Hamilton, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday September 4, 2022 at Gateway Springs Health Campus in Hamilton, Ohio. She was born on October 18, 1935 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the only child of Joseph Giorno and Anna (Hettler) Giorno. She is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Ronald R. Mowatt, Jr., five children [Michael (Susan Old) Mowatt, Susan (Larry) Head, David (Sonja) Mowatt, Stephen Mowatt, Joseph (Lynne Shankel) Mowatt], six grandchildren [April (Nick) Brooks, Alison (Eddie) Welch, Christopher (Amanda)Mowatt, Daniel Mowatt, Michael William (Cori) Mowatt, Robertson Ramsey Mowatt], and six great grandchildren [Abram Brooks, Ayla Brooks, Charlotte Welch, Jack Welch, Marlow Mowatt, Mills Mowatt]. Ann is also survived by cousins, Gabriel (Rosemarie) Pascuzzi, Vincent (Stephanie) Rico, Robert (Barbara) Rico and Brother-in-Law, Robert (Melinda) Mowatt. Ann grew up in Philadelphia across the street from Incarnation of Our Lord Catholic Church, where she attended elementary school. She attended St. Mary’s Academy High School (Philadelphia, PA), where she played on the basketball team. After graduation Ann honed her administrative skills and held jobs with different companies in different places over the years. Among these was Hormel and Company, a meat processing and packing company in Philadelphia. It was there that a fellow employee introduced Ann to her future husband. After raising her five children Ann was employed by Avon, Goffena and Baker, CPA’s (Hamilton, OH) and Independent Energy (East Greenwich, RI). Following their marriage in 1957 Ann, Ron and their growing family lived in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, Willingboro, New Jersey, Hamilton, Ohio, and East Greenwich, Rhode Island. On retiring in 1998 Ann and Ron moved to their dream home in Palm Coast, Florida where they lived until their return to Hamilton in 2013. Ann loved word puzzles, gardening, reading and card games. After her family, her greatest loves were her cats and the beach. Whether at Avalon, New Jersey, Galilee, Rhode Island, or Flagler Beach, Florida, Ann relished her time basking in the warm sunshine on sandy beaches near the breaking waves and salty sea air. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the caregivers at Bradford Place (2019-2022) and Gateway Springs Health Campus (March 2022-September 2022) for their loving care of Ann. Memorial contributions can be made in Ann’s memory to The Paws Cause Rescue, Animal Friends Humane Society or Compassus Hospice. Services will be held on Saturday October 8, 2022, at Weigel Funeral Home 980 NW Washington Blvd. Hamilton, OH 45013. Visitation will be at 10:00 am until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 am, officiated by Father Jeff Silver. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
