Monica Dedra Blevens

Monica Dedra Blevens, age 52, of Hamilton, died Friday, June 19, 2009, after her courageous battle with breast cancer for 28 years. She has become an inspiration to us through her work with breast cancer awareness for young women. She was honored at Jewish Hospital by being selected to the Breast Cancer Survivor Wall of Fame. She attended the Vineyard Community Church of Tri County. The VCC mission is; “small things done with great love will change the world.” Monica’s life was a true example of service to family, friends, community, and church. Born in Middletown, Ohio, November 4, 1956, to William Ralph Farmer and Eddie (Harrison) Farmer, she was a graduate Hamilton City Schools. She was a dedicated employee for 31 years at Hamilton Telephone Answering Service. She is survived by her sons, Allan Blevens and his wife Cindy, Hamilton, Ryan Blevens, Hamilton; three grandchildren Christian, Lily, and Ashlin; three sisters, Renee Smallwood and husband Jeff, Hamilton, Katrena Engel and husband Michael, Hamilton, Tina Marie Turner and husband Doyle, McKee, Kentucky; one brother, Kevin Farmer, Hamilton; one sister-in-law, Karen Farmer, Hamilton; nieces and nephews, Tyler Smallwood and wife Lauren, Hamilton, Cody Smallwood, Hamilton, Amy Stoll and husband Andrew, Cincinnati, Lisa Engel, Hamilton, Jennifer Engel and Brady Webb, Hamilton, Allison Engel and Adam Ritz, Hamilton, Raja Sundram, Hamilton, Lauren Farmer, Hamilton, Lakota Turner, McKee, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her mother Eddie Farmer and her grandparents Dewey and Nannie Farmer. She opened her home to Katrin Frank, a foreign exchange student from Germany. The family would like to thank the Jewish Hospital Oncology and Hematology Group and The Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of Jewish Hospital and The Vineyard Community Church of Tri County. Funeral services will be held Monday June 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N.W. Washington Blvd. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery, Middletown. Visitation will be Sunday June, 21 2009 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
