Phyllis Shollenbarger

Phyllis M. SHOLLENBARGER, Age 91, a resident of Berkeley Square Retirement Community, Hamilton, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 11:55 p.m. in Fort Hamilton Hospital. She was born April 16, 1915 in Cincinnati, the daughter of William and Josephine (Moffat) Donnelly. She was educated in Cincinnati Schools, graduating from Withrow High School and attended Shuster-Martin School of Drama in Cincinnati for eight years. She married James D. Shollenbarger in Front Street Presbyterian Church on February 26, 1938 and he preceded her in death on April 28, 1991. Phyllis was a member of The Presbyterian Church, Town and Country Garden Club of Hamilton-Fairfield and the Co-operative Service League. Her hobby was gardening and she spent many hours, during the growing season, planting and nurturing her flowers. She had been a resident of the Berkeley Community for the last eleven years of her life, where she made many friends. She will be remembered fondly for her upbeat personality and willingness to help others. She is survived by her three children, Dr. David Shollenbarger and wife, Sherry of Carmel California, Patty Rentschler and husband, Bill of Hamilton and Michael Shollenbarger and wife, Carol of Fairfield; four grandsons, Jim Spence and wife Melody of Fairfield, David Shollenbarger, III of ElCerrito, California, Patrick Shollenbarger and wife, Ellen of Fairfield Township and Andrew Shollenbarger of Cincinnati; two granddaughters, Trisha Rentschler Fox and husband, Doug of South Bend, Indiana and Maria Shollenbarger of New York City; four great granddaughters, Kelli and Ryan Fox of South Bend and Beth and Jamie Taylor of Fairfield; one great grandson, Mason Shollenbarger of Fairfield Township; her sister, Jeannette Webb of Omaha, Nebraska and a niece and nephew. A private memorial service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum at the convenience of the family. The family is grateful to the staff of Berkeley Square for the wonderful care she received. There will be no visitation.
