Our Story
Learn our story, from the beginning and into the future.
Ever since we opened our doors we have approached life (and death) differently. While some just see the end of a loved one’s life as a time for grief and mourning, we prefer to think of it as a time for reflection, appreciation and even celebration. This is evident in everything we do, from the way we conduct our services to the amenities we choose to offer. We are not a burial ground. We are a close knit community dedicated to honoring, sharing and preserving the amazing and inspirational stories that are life.
Why Us?
In a nutshell? Experience, professionalism, compassion, and empathy.
We've learned a lot over many years. Like how to present options without overwhelming. And how to meet the needs of many caring parties. People come to us in difficult times, and we respond kindness, calmness and expertise. Our goal is to create a beautiful occasion and make you feel welcome, always. We spend our days planning with families. We stay up to date with industry developments. And we make hard times a little easier.
Learn the legacy.
2015 will mark Weigel Funeral Home's 89th anniversary in Hamilton. The firm was founded in 1926 by Robert L. Klaus, grandfather of the present owner Robert L. Weigel II (Bob) and great-grandfather of Director Robert W. (Rob) Weigel. The firm was known for many years as the Robert L. Klaus Funeral Home.
In 1960 the firm, at N. F Street and Elvin Avenue, became known as the Klaus-Weigel Funeral Home and was owned and directed by Robert L. Weigel until his death in 1975. Bob Weigel continued operating the business throughout the 1970's and 1980's.
In January 1986 the funeral home moved to its current location on Washington Boulevard. The modern 8,000 square foot brick facility was designed by Steed-Hammonds-Paul Architects and was the first funeral home in Hamilton to be built exclusively as a funeral home in Hamilton.
The firm shortened its name to Weigel Funeral Home in the 1990's. In 2008 Rob Weigel and Barry Richardson joined the company. Rob Weigel is proud to be the fourth generation of his family to serve as a funeral director in his hometown.
